Christmas Countdown - Remembering and Maybe Creating Some New Traditions

It's been tough with Mom gone and this will be our third Christmas without her. I've been really lost for a while without her here. I feel like I've forgotten what Christmas is all about. What it's supposed to feel like, be about. How can I make it special for my family if I have lost that special feeling that we had when Mom was with us.

After watching a movie about a woman working on a 12 Days of Christmas list, who discovered Christmas again, I decided it was time to find it for myself.

Mom always loved Christmas and she would go all out for the holidays, whether we were travelling during the holidays or home at my parents place, or one of the siblings places. From decorations to baking to gifts and doing something special, like tubing at the slops in Kamloops, doing the Lightswalk of Wildlife Kamloops, Ice cream in December, volunteering to shovel driveways as "Snowangels", etc during the time leading up to the holidays.

Well, I watched a movie about a woman who gave up on Christmas and all the holiday stuff. She received a letter from her Aunt who had left her a house in her will, along with all her personal stuff, including a journal with a note for her niece that was titled 12 Days to Christmas... my original idea seemed to grow from there.

I created a list, my version of the 12 days of Christmas. But it might be a bit more than just 12... we shall see.
If you are reading this, then I hope you enjoy my adventures and discovery of the joy of Christmas in my heart and life again. Perhaps I'll find a new tradition or two to add to what I already love. Perhaps you'll find one or two for your family too.
