Day 4 of our Las Vegas/Christmas in Disneyland trip

Happy Christmas Eve!

We're off to Disneyland for a couple days...
Some of the buildings that we passed by on our way out of Las Vegas... Pretty cool seeing buildings that are in other states in a mini version here in Vegas.

 New York, New York!
We stopped in a little town to have breakfast on our road trip, found a Denny's sign  at this hotel casino, Buffalo Bills, but couldn't find the restaurant.

Pretty cool museum style building inside...

This track started here, but the end behind me hits a wall. lol

Tracks just go through the whole ground floor of this place... pretty cool!

Still more tracks keep going through  the building...
Are we close to breakfast yet?
And here outside of the hotel, is a roller coaster track... bet it's great fun for kids in the summer.

Never did find breakfast, guess we'll head to the next town...
And now we have arrived at our hotel.
Settled into our room, now to explore Disneyland!

We decided to do a ride today... Pirates of the Caribbean!
Dad even joined us on this one ride... Mom would have laughed at us wacky trio.

Inside the ride, it's pretty amazing. They really did a wonderful job on the scenes.

Even the ship and all was so real!

Came out of the ride and it was dark... boy does the castle look amazing... Time for the parade.

Took lots of pictures of the parade, but I don't want to bore you with them all... so here are just a few...

Good night everyone, time for us to head to bed for Christmas Day in Disneyland!

Day 3 of our Las Vegas/Christmas in Disneyland trip

We walked and walked and walked... miles on the feet, grins on our faces and whiplash necks but what fun!
Aunty and I in front of a butterfly sculpture.
I thought this UFO design was round but its actually more oval... cool!
 More metal art pieces.
police staging area... definitely different.

In front of Treasure Island resort. Yup, that's me.

 Dad and Aunty...

 Strip... view from one way...
Now the other way.

Inside the Mirage Hotel... very pretty
We got to watch the volcano show outside the Mirage.

Now to see my first live Cirque Du Soleil performance.

 Absolutely stunning.
wow!

All in all today was a blast. Memories to last a lifetime. Not to check out a slot machine then head to bed

Day 2 of our Las Vegas/Christmas in Disneyland trip

Not much happening today. It's a travel day with a hurry up and wait feel... come with me as I explore Tsawwassen Mills Mall while I wait for Aunty to come over on the ferry...
 Christmas decorations are beautiful here
I am amazed at the art on this place. Forget shopping, this place is full of wonderful creativity.
This wolf is stunning... don't you think?
Not just metal works, but this giant ball too.
This light display did a beautiful show.
Tired of walking? Ride on a stuffy! For kids and adults.
so cute....

Ok so we've been walking for an hour. Time for a tea break.
now I'm ready for the next leg of our journey...

Here is a nice place for adults to rest while kids play in the playground down further.
Electric lighter? I had to check these out. They work on propane stoves, bbqs, cigars and pipes!
Here you go kids!

we made it on the plane...

Check this funky wing out.looked like a fin on a whale to me.

Taking off... good bye Vancouver!

Hello Las Vegas!

Airport greeting even says welcome to Las Vegas 😊
Just had to show you that Las Vegas really is slot city. Airport slots anyone?... hee hee

Welcome to our hotel.

Day 1 of Las Vegas/ Christmas Day in Disneyland trip

Dad wanted to go to Vegas last year for Christmas, but Aunty Sally, Tim (my son), Patrick(my youngest brother) and I couldn't get away all at the same time so we had our first Christmas without Mom at my condo.

So this year we are getting away to Las Vegas and Aunty Sally's dream was to spend Christmas day in Disneyland. So off we go... only downside is Tim has to work over Christmas holidays and Patrick wanted to spend Christmas with his girlfriend and her family.

That leaves Dad, Aunty Sally and I on our own.

I'm going to share my adventure with you... And this is the beginning...
First you have to understand that yesterday there was a major wind storm that rocked the lower mainland and dumped 10 in or so of snow on the major highways to get from my home to Tsawwassen where I'll be picking my Aunt up from the ferry. Thus way I'm sharing the road pictures, so you can see the progress of snow and stuff I had to go through...
Just leaving Princeton. So far the roads have been
like this... clear and dry
Now I'm entering Manning Park... little bit more
snow here.

Oh boy... power line down and more snow. We had to wait for the trucks to
clear the broken pole away and cut the rest of it down, as they
were putting a new one up. 45 Min wait.

Uhhhhh..... my 4 hour drive turned into 7 1/2 hour one. Snow, accidents and construction
but I finally made it. Now to put my feet up and rest...
I'm now just going to say good night. See you again soon.

November 11 on the BC Ferry, I'll never forget

While traveling on the ferry with my Dad, we experienced a profound 2 minutes.

The captain announced that there would be a 2 minutes of silence observed by staff and crew at 11:00 and asked passengers to join them. At 11:02 all functions would resume. They even stopped the ferry. Engines off. Wow!

It was an amazing experience to hear all that silence from a large ferry crowded with people. Only a brief cry from a child before complete quiet. Beautiful. Made me emotional. Thank you for this memory. Dad and I will never forget this trip. Captain, you made it all the more special.
